Likro Es HaHallel or Ligmor Es HaHallel ? נוצר על ידי rallisw
Was the original nusach among Bnei Ashkenaz (as well as Sephardim), "Ligmor Es HaHallel"?

Nusach Ashkenaz has always been "Likro" and not "Ligmor".

I have a reprinted Hagadah from the Diskin Orphan Home - I forget which one but it is German, 13th or 14th century - which has a few interesting Brachos. I believe it goes according to the Maharam MiRothenburg. This is all from memory.

1) It has al Netilas Yodayim by either Urchatz or Rochtzoh
2) It has al Rechitzas Yodayim by the other of the two
3) It has al Nekiyas Yodayim before Barech (I guess they washed Mayim Acharonim)
4) Before Hallel in Magid it has Likro es Hahallel
5) Before Hallel said after Barech it has Ligmor es Hahallel

This is puzzling. In machsor Wormaisa it says to say 'ligmor' when you say full hallel and 'likro' when you say hallel with dilugim. The same is written in the Tur ch. 644. The siddur of Rav Hirtz Treves only prints 'ligmor'. So despite the P'sak of the Mahram of Rothenburg, how is it fair to say that the minhag of Ashkenas was always to say 'likro'?

Minhag Ashkenaz was Likrou es Hahalel for many generations. It is true that in the time of the Rishounim there were some other shitous, and you can see a nice summary in the introduction to the D. Goldschmidt Machzour for Sukkous pg 13-14.
