Teffilin

Are there any Yekkes that wrap there Teffilin out, or is the Minhag only to wrap in? (I have a friend who insists that it is his Minhag to wrap out).

I've read Chasiddim rearrange the knot it'll not look like a "cross" from the inner side. I don't think this is correct to do so.
Because it is not a "cross" at all! I suppose this is "Taw"-arammi, the name of God. The same sign "Taw"-arammi we can see in the Torah in Shmos Tetzave 29:2 and 29:7
אחר אפייתן מושחן כמין כי יונית
אף משיחה זו כמין כי יונית, נותן שמן על ראשו ובין ריסי עיניו ומחברן באצבעו:

and this week Parashah Tzav 8:12
בתחלה יוצק על ראשו, ואחר כך נותן בין ריסי עיניו ומושך באצבעו מזה לזה:

I guess this letter is "Taw"-arammi, the name of the God. We can see this letter included into the word "Emes" (Alef-Mem-Taw), where "Alef" is also the name of the God "E-LOACH" in Yeshayahu 44:6 and 48:12
כה אמר יי מלך ישראל וגאלו יי צבאות אני ראשון ואני אחרון ומבלעדי אין אלקים׃
שמע אלי יעקב וישראל מקראי אני הוא אני ראשון אף אני אחרון׃
