Mourning Custom During the Omer was created by Felix
What is the Frankfurt custom regarding mourning during the Omer period? From Rosh Chodesh Iyar until Shavuos or for the first 33 days of Omer?

Thank You!

The minhag was that the mourning started after Rosh Chodesh Iyor, and continued until erev Shovu'os. This way there were 31 days (excluding Lag ba'omer), and using the דין that part of the day is considered the whole day there were 33 days - including the night of Lag ba'omer and of erev Shovu'os.
Later some were מיקל that the mourning was only from ב Iyor till כט Iyor. I think Rav Breuer explains that according to this minhag Chol Hamo'ed is counted as part of the Sefirah.

I heard from Rev. Salomon Igla Z"tl of Posen the following reason for the Minhog of keeping Sefiro only (so it seems) during Iyor. According to the Sefer Chassidim, one mustn't shave on Rosh Chodesh. Thus, 29 days of Iyor, the 30th day of Nisson & 1st of Sivan which are Rosh Chodesh make 31 days. Add the end of 29 Nison & the beginning of 2 Sivon using the concept of Mikzas Hayom Kikulo we have 33 days.
