Lamalshinim/ Lameshumodim was created by Melech
As we know, at some point the word "lameshumadim" was censored and changed to "lamalshinim". Was this change made by adopting the text of the beginning of the brachah from another legitimate Nusach, or was the change made by adopting a word not found in any uncensored nusach at all? I ask this because I've recently been going through Machzor Roma, and the text that I see there is "Valamalshinim". I was wondering if it was the actual Italian nusach which was then borrowed by Ashkenazim for censorship purposes, or if the word is just as much a product of censorship in the Italian nusach as it is in the Ashkenazic one.

The old Nusach was Lameshumodim. It would seem that the Roman nusach was changed to Lamalshinim also because of the censor - Rome was the center of the Christian world.
The Sephardic nusach (which today is Laminim Velamalshinim) also was Lameshumodim, but from the time the Siddurim were printed in Europe - they also had to make changes because of the censor.
