Kirvu Goyim on Tish'ah B'av was created by Melech
The hagahos Maimonee records opposition to reciting Kirvu Goyim Lishmo'a on Tish'ah B'av. Where did the Minhog originate, and which Rishonim supported it? (I know the Maharil records it, but the Maharil is probably viewed only as a quasi-Rishon, and I'm sure the minhog must have started earlier.)

The Minhag of saying Kirvu Goyim is brought in the book "מנהגים דבי מהר"ם מרוטנברג". The מהר"ם מרוטנברג himself talks against this minhag, but his opposition was not accepted and the minhag continued as recorded in the Maharil (that you mentioned).
In the book מנהגים דק"ק ווריישא (published by מכון ירושלים, first part pg 127), Rav Hamburger brings a long review about it.
