Pesukim at the End of Aleinu was created by Daniel
This past Motzaei Shabbos (12/7/13 - Parshas Vayigash), the Minhag Ashkenaz Minyan in Bayswater, NY made a Melava Malka in honor of our third anniversary. I gave a short shiur (app 10m) on why old Minhag Ashkenaz does not recite pesukim at the end of Aleinu. It is attached here along with the source notes. Feel free to post comments.

You can look up the original article; there is much information in their that I did not discuss. It can be found in Yerushaseinu, vol 3, p.156. Author is Rav Shlomo Chaim Auman.

I was a bit confused by Rabbi Adler's reference to the rokeach, who says 'until timloch bechovod', as proof that even in his days, oleinu carried on longer.
It must not be forgotten, that the only source we have for the origin of oleinu is tefilas musaf of rosh hashonoh. In there, it does indeed continue.
Thanks
